Who they are…
Green Glass was created by a couple called Glenn and Jo from Cornwall. The company was started in a garden shed in 2000 after the couple had seen similar recycled glass products when working on environmental projects in Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland.
What they do…
Green Glass create a range of recycled glass wine glasses, goblets and tumblers and have recently started to make jewellery. The glass is all slightly different and the range changes depending on what glass and colours are available at the time. Some glasses are simple in design whereas others have images of sea creatures, flowers or butterflies on them. We have already found the glasses made from beer bottles really popular.
Why we think they are great!
By using glass that has already been made and creating glasses without totally melting the glass back down means it doesn’t take a lot of energy to make Green Glass products. Their processes are designed to be as energy efficient as possible and they filter and reuse all the water from the factory. The demand for the glass has meant that glass is collected from local recycling schemes, which has helped increase awareness of recycling locally.
